Step One: Wash And Dry Your Human Hair Wig
First of all, separate your human hair wigs with a paddle brush or wide-toothed comb. Then, wash your wig with warm water and wig shampoo, scrubbing downwards from root to tip. Also make sure the inside of the lid is clean. After washing, apply conditioner- Avoid the root area – and let the wig sit for a few minutes. Rinse the wig thoroughly, and dry it with a towel. Avoid wringing out your wig as this can cause frizz. If your wig has top features or monofilament sections, cut the hair with a wide tooth comb after drying the wig. Then, apply your styling product, such as a detangler, heat protectant, or hair oil.
Human hair wigs need to be dried for best results as they do not retain their style after washing like synthetic wigs. You can use your hands or a wig stand to support the wig as you dry it. Dry your wig to about 50% dry — then it’s time to start styling.
Step Two: Use Hot Styling Tools To Style Your Human Hair Wig
You should never use hot styling tools on your wig while you are wearing it because you could injure yourself. TTo make styling your wig easier and safer, use T-pins to attach your wig to a foam block or canvas head. Using this type of wig holder keeps the wig secure during styling and also allows you to have a 360 degree stylish look.
After drying the wig to half dry, continue drying with a round brush. This type of brush will give you more style control and will help smooth the hair. You can use the air concentrator attachment on your hair dryer for more control. Once your hair is 100% dry, you can move on to the next step.
To straighten your wig, use a flat iron starting about an inch from the roots of your wig. This is easier if you separate your hair into more manageable sections using bobby pins or ties. Make sure to pay attention to the front part as it will frame your face, but make sure not to leave heat on your hair for too long.Finish the style with hairspray.
To curl your wig, first separate your hair into sections, then wrap a strand of hair around your curling wand and let it sit for 8-12 seconds. Make sure you don’t leave heat on your hair for too long. Let the curls slowly fall into your hands and allow them to cool partially. This will ensure that your curls hold up. Complete each section until all of your hair is curled. Finish the style with hairspray.
You can use these hat styling tips on your hair wig every day, but be sure to apply Leave In Conditioner Spray and Heat Protector Spray before styling to keep your hair hydrated and protected. Remember to wash your human hair wig at least once a week after daily wear or every 8-10 uses.
