If you are to buy a fitness smartwatch, the Versa 2 and Vivoactive 4 will most likely make your top choices. These two bikes released last year are some of the best smartwatches you can buy today. For one, these two have many similar features offered in different forms, but the price gap is quite big. This comparison compares the versa 2 vs Vivoactive 4 to determine which is a better smartwatch for you.
Design
I like the design of both watches, I think each of these two stands out with an outstanding design when you take into consideration the weight, size, sturdiness and attractiveness. From the tables above, you’ll notice both watches are lightweight, compact, sturdy materials and attractive.
However, while a Matrix LCD powers the display of Vivoactive 4, it’s AMOLED for Versa 2 which is richer and more attractive, but both watches can easily be read under sunlight. Versa 2’s 1.4 inches display is slightly bigger than 1.3 inches, obviously because of the square shape. It’s worrtwhile difference especially for those who can barely read contents on a small display. And for a smartwatch, every added display is very important.
I’ve not used any of these watches yet, so I can’t really say which one offers more watch faces, but both watches from reviews ny users offer a fair share of preloaded watch faces that allow you to choose your preferred choice.
I can say navigation is easy on both watches with touch sensitive screen and physical buttons eventhough Vivoactive 4 has more physical buttons.
Subsequently, investigating the materials, while Versa 2 has a case made of aluminium, Vivoactive 4 has a case made of reinforced fiber polymer with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 covering the display of both smartwatches. These are sturdy materials use to many smartwatches you find on the market even the Apple Watch 5.
Both watches are also rated 5ATM which makes these two waterproof up to 50 meters. You can wear any of these to the pool or ocean, but only the Vivoactive 4 will track your heart rate will swimming – a feature that’s also present in Huawei Watch GT 2.
Overall, the design of both smartwatches I’d outstanding, attractive and elegant.
Storage and Media
Both Versa 2 and Vivoactive 4 come with storage capacity that allows you to take your favorite tracks with you. This is a nice feature that can be a source of motivation especially while working out. There’s a microphones built into Versa 2 which Vivoactive 4 lacks and as a result, Alexa voice assistant is present and allows you to perform tasks and control smarthome things simply with your voice.
Fitness tracking
There’s no doubt that these two are some of the best activity trackers you can buy on the market when you consider the sophisticated fitness tracking technology of both Garmin and Fitbit Charge 4 Special vs standard. Both Versa 2 and Vivoactive 4 will track your daily activities such as steps, distance, floors climbed to more advanced metrics like complete sleep tracking, continuous heart rate tracking, menstrual cycle logging, stress management, blood oxygen tracking, on-screen work-out coach with preloaded sport modes.
However, while there’s inbuilt GPS in Vivoactive 4, the Versa 2 need to connect to your phone to enable GPS functions. While this might not seem like a big difference, working out and carrying your phone along can be bring some level of inconvenience a couple of times.
There are also some features I noticed on vivoactive 4, but not present on Versa 2 like incidental fall detection that could help you get help quick when a problem occurs, not to mention features like respiration, hydration and heart rate tracking while swimming. In other words, I think the vivoactive with inbuilt GPS and more activity tracking features is a more comprehensive fitness tracker.
Battery life
It’s worth noting that both Vivoactive 4 and Versa 2 have a long battery life that let’s you go multidays from a single charge. However from reviews by users, Vivoactive 4 has a longer battery life of about 7 days or more compared to about 5 days or more of Versa 2. That’s a significant increase in battery life.
Price
The price of Vivoactive 4 is about twice the price of Versa 2, yet both offer about same features.
Which is better?
It’s difficult to say which is a better smartwatch, and like I stated earlier, these two some of the best smartwatches with very high ratings from users. It all depends on you to decide.
I still will go for the Versa 2 which I recently ordered alongside Galaxy Watch for my reviews which will be posted here.
