Summertime and the livin’ is easy! Or it could be, if you allow yourself to take a great vacation. There are so many beautiful spots to visit in the US and beyond that will make it easy for you to enjoy the summer weather. Whether you’re looking for a classic beach vacation or something a little more rugged and off the beaten path, we can help you find the perfect destination for your summer getaway. Read on for some of our favorite places to go in the summertime
Maui, HI
Hawaii is a US state that is full to the brim with gorgeous places to visit. With its lush green coasts, white sand beaches, and sparkling clear water, it really is the quintessential beach vacation spot for those looking to take a break. The biodiversity beneath the surface means that fans of scuba diving and snorkeling will have no shortage of interesting creatures to look at. While each of the 8 major Hawaiian islands are beautiful, Maui is on this list because it is arguably the easiest to get to from most major mainland airports. If you’re looking to save money on air travel, there are always cheap flights from SLC to OGG meaning you can book your beach vacation without breaking the bank, whether you’re traveling by way of the Rockies, Arizona Deserts, or the coast.
Punta Cana, DR
The Dominican Republic is a country with so many stunning vacation spots that, realistically, we could write an entire list about it. However, we’re specifically recommending Punta Cana because of just how much there is to do. If you’re a traveler who doesn’t want to decide between a peaceful beach vacay and an exciting adventure, this is the place for you! In this port city, you can go ziplining or kayaking in the morning, and still finish out the day with relaxation next to the water. Alternatively, if you don’t want to wind down, you’re in luck! Punta Cana has some of the best nightlife in the Carribean, so the party doesn’t have to stop until you want it to.
Estes Park, CO
This little resort town in Colorado definitely has a different vibe than our two previous suggestions. Instead of sand and salt, this city gives you the rugged natural beauty of the mountains. As the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park is only a few minutes away from some of the best hiking trails the US has to offer. No matter what your skill level is, you can find a view that is breathtaking. While Estes Park is cozy in the winter, the town really shines in the summer, when the greenery is reflected back off of the many serene lakes tucked amongst the mountains. But beware: Hiking at altitude can be difficult for the inexperienced, so drink lots of water and take breaks when you need to.
Portland, ME
If you’re looking for a combination of natural beauty and bustling city life, look no further than Portland, Maine. Like some of the other cities on this list, Portland is a coastal city, so it is located right on the water. However, unlike those other cities, Portland’s coast features picturesque rocky cliffs dotted with lighthouses (many of which you can tour). When you’re done exploring, head into town for a delicious meal and a drink. With an up-and-coming food scene and a thriving local beer scene, Portland is unexpectedly delightful for foodies! Many of the ports have been transformed into areas for dining and entertainment, so you can eat a fresh lobster and enjoy the view at the same time.
Now that summer is here, it’s the perfect time to travel to somewhere lovely. Take a trip to any of the destinations on this list, and you’re sure to have an amazing time. You’ll definitely have the pictures to prove it!
