With so much to celebrate this year and so many great options available, you can have a great time decorating your home inside and out for the holiday. If you’re as independent as they come or you just like showing off your individuality, these tips will help you be the envy of your neighbors and friends this year.

What Is the 4th of July?

Just in case you’re new to the country, planning on visiting, or just aren’t sure what all the hubbub is about, we wanted to take a quick minute to explain what the real reason for the holiday is.

Also known as Independence Day or July 4th, the 4th of July has been celebrated in the United States since the 18th century, after the American Revolution and the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence from Britain on July 2nd, 1776. Then, the delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence two days later.

Known and celebrated as the birth of American independence, July 4th has been a federal holiday since 1941 and festivities range from parades, concerts, and fireworks, to more intimate gatherings of friends and family.

Here are just a few of the ways you can decorate your home in honor of this patriotic holiday:

1. Start With the Atmosphere

There’s arguably nothing better at brightening up a home than a fresh bouquet of flowers. With affordable 4th of July flowers, you can have a pop of color and beauty in as many rooms as you like, or place them on the porch to welcome your party guests.

2. Add a Little Flair

With affordable balloons for the occasion, you can make both the inside and outside of your home pop with flair. Furthermore, you can add red, white, and blue holiday lights in and around the home to give it that extra pizazz. Party streamers, colored light bulbs, pinwheel spinners, and a holiday tablecloth are perfect items to top off your interior and exterior decorations.

3. Don’t Forget the Flag

With independence being the whole reason for the holiday, you definitely need to fly your American flag. However, you can also stand out a bit more with patriotic bunting and fans.

You might also pick up some items with American flag prints, such as:

  • Decorative tissue box
  • Patriotic welcome mat
  • Shower curtains and bath mats

With the flag and flag colors of red, white, and blue, you can get really creative with how you decorate your home.

4. Throw On the Patriotic Apparel

You’ve got one of the best blenders and you make a mean 4th of July margarita or piña colada, so why not highlight it all with themed glasses, coffee mugs, wine glasses, and just properly colored cups?

A few other things you may want to include just for aesthetics are:

  • Party ribbon
  • Red, white, and blue seating
  • Patriotic swag

No matter how you decide to celebrate American independence this 4th of July, the main thing is to stay safe and have fun. Whether you barbecue or have a potluck, break out the margaritas or sodas, decorating your home for the occasion can definitely be fun and worthwhile.

The majority of the tips above are cheap or very affordable and the good thing is, the majority can be stored and used again next year.
