When looked under a microscope, men and woman are very different creatures, but when it comes to porn watching habits, it turns out they aren’t so different after all

As we start spending more and more time at home, we see ourselves with more free time to release stress through masturbation and fantasy. It turns out that living through a global pandemic is stressful. Who knew?

Previously, it was assumed that only men enjoyed watching pornography, but this has recently been proven false. Do men really need a scientific study to realize that women also love visual fantasizing and masturbation? Thanks to stigmas brought on by societal expectations and gender roles, for many years, women have been turned off by porn. But times are changing.

How many women watch porn?

According to data gathered, 24% of the site’s traffic is made up of women.

Among those women watching porn, 35 percent of them came from Brazil! Looking further, a survey done by Cosmopolitan found that 3.8 percent of women who watch porn say they watch it every single day. Conversely, though, 71.2 percent of those women surveyed say they don’t watch porn often. But they aren’t watching alone.

Data from a study of 1,291 coupled individuals, by the University of Denver, shows that among the females studied, 45 percent said they watched porn with their partners, leaving less than percent that by themselves.

How many men watch porn?

Now let’s cover how many men are watching porn. Not surprisingly, a lot. According to a Pew survey, men are about three times as likely as women are to watch porn online.

The survey conducted by Cosmo mentioned previously, found that men came to a total of 32.5 percent claim they watch porn sometimes, 56.5 percent frequently, and 11 percent claim they rarely watch porn.

Now lets talk about Porn Categories….

Some data has been collected “anonymous”  about who is watching what, and when it comes down to different Porn categories, here’s what women are interested in.

At the top of the list for women are as follows: Lesbian, lesbian scissoring, threesome, hentai, Japanese, rough sex, gangbang, massage, big black dig, lesbian threesome. If you notice, that number 6 on the list is “rough sex”.

Surprisingly, men and woman both enjoy “rough” porn categories

It turns out that many women fantasize about sexual submission or domination. Bondage or BDSM is a popular fantasy in which one person overpowers or punishes another, sometimes inflicting pain. BDSM is always done in a consensual manner of course. A Canadian study surveyed a group of 1,040 women, aged 18 to 64, and found that 28 percent of that woman held fantasies of being a sub (submissive). To some, this won’t be surprising but to others, it just might be.

What are men’s porn watching habits?

In one study, researchers surveyed 2,227 different adults, all aged 18-40. Two-thirds of the people surveyed identified as heterosexual and the rest as gay or bisexual. The study worked like this. The subjects were given a list of 27 porn categories and were asked to go through and rate them on how often they view each category. And the results effectively showed the following for the most watched porn categories for men.

Heterosexual men: Amateur, oral sex, big breasts, threesomes, anal sex. Gay and bisexual men: Anal sex, oral sex, threesomes, amateur, gay. As it turns out, oral sex, anal sex, and threesomes are all popular among men of all sexual orientations.

Going back to the trust Pornhub finding, men seem to also love milf, putting it at the top of most searched on the adult entertainment website. Followed by stepmom, Japanese, hentai, and teen.

Final thoughts

In terms of numbers, more men are technically watching porn than women, it’s true. But keep in mind that it’s difficult to get accurate measurements of both men’s and women’s porn watching habits, as many people keep their sexual desires top secret.

Odds are, much more women watch porn than we realize, they might just be watching on sites that are more oriented towards the female gaze. But as we see from the data collected by multiple sources, what women watch and what men watch are in fact pretty similar. So what is “the female gaze”. Maybe it’s subjective.

But at least one thing is for sure. No matter what gender you are, humans are horny.
